The Notre Dame Green Knights's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They suffered a tough 35-10 loss at the hands of Fairfield Prep. Despite 148 more yards than Fairfield Prep, Notre Dame couldn't convert that extra yardage to scores.
Notre Dame's lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Josiah Carter, who gained 107 total yards. Carter was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 67 yards.
Tyler Smith looked great while leading his team to the win, throwing for 87 yards and three touchdowns while completing 80% of his passes.
Notre Dame's loss dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Fairfield Prep, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 3-6.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Notre Dame will take on Hamden at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Connecticut (Hamden is ranked 42nd, while Notre Dame is ranked 57th). As for Fairfield Prep, they will head out on the road to face off against West Haven at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. West Haven is coming into the contest hot, having won their last three games.
