The Preble Shawnee Arrows will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against the Oakwood Lumberjacks at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Preble Shawnee is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
Preble Shawnee's 20-7 record from last season is now well into the rear view mirror after another tough outing. They fell just short of Franklin Monroe by a score of 43-41.
Despite their defeat, Preble Shawnee saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Ashleigh Mondello-garrett, who scored five points along with 12 rebounds and four steals, was perhaps the best of all. Those 12 rebounds set a new season-high mark for her. Autumn Smith was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with six rebounds.
Oakwood has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three contests by 21 points or more this season. They were the clear victor by a 60-39 margin over Brookville. The win was just what Oakwood needed coming off of a 58-38 defeat in their prior matchup.
Preble Shawnee bumped their record down to 0-7 with that defeat, which was their fifth straight at home. As for Oakwood, their victory bumped their record up to 5-3.
