Having just played yesterday, the Edgewood Crusaders will head out on the road to face off against the Oregon Panthers at 7:15 p.m. on January 24th. Edgewood is hoping to put an end to a six-game streak of away losses.
Edgewood pushed their score all the way to 72 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell just short of Lake Country Lutheran by a score of 74-72. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat Edgewood has suffered yet this season.
Meanwhile, Oregon scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Saturday. They strolled past McFarland with points to spare, taking the game 83-64. Given Oregon's advantage in MaxPreps' Wisconsin basketball rankings (they are ranked 70th, while McFarland is ranked 313th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Edgewood has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost nine of their last ten games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-12 record this season. As for Oregon, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-5.
Edgewood came out on top in a nail-biter against Oregon when the teams last played back in February of 2023, sneaking past 65-63. The rematch might be a little tougher for Edgewood since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
