Baseball Recap: United South Finds Playoff Glory Versus Steele

United South had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They were the clear victors by a 10-2 margin over the Steele Knights on Friday. Considering the Panthers have won 11 contests by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Roman Martinez made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits over four innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-5 with two triples, three RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in February.

In other batting news, Alex Galvan was excellent, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three RBI. Those four hits gave him a new career-high. Oscar Rodriguez was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two runs.

United South kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

United South is on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 15 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 25-9 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.9 runs on average over those games. As for Steele, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 16-10-4.

As of now, neither United South nor the Knights have any future games scheduled.
