The Hoggard Vikings can now show off 16 landslide victories after their most recent contest on Friday. They took their game at home with ease, bagging a 49-8 win over West Brunswick. Winning may never get old, but Hoggard sure is getting used to it with their ninth in a row.
Hoggard found their leader in underclassman Tristan Shivers, who scored 23 points along with five assists and five rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Shivers has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Sarah Elgart, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 14 rebounds.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, West Brunswick struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Hoggard pulled down 14 offensive rebounds.
Hoggard's win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 19-1. As for West Brunswick, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-9 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hoggard will square off against the Pirates at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Topsail focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 19 on Friday. As for West Brunswick, they will head out on the road to square off against the Screaming Eagle at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Ashley focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Friday.
