Tolono Unity is 6-1 against Prairie Central since April of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Rockets will face off against the Hawks at 4:30 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Prairie Central will challenge a team with plenty of momentum: Tolono Unity extended their winning streak to three on Tuesday. The Rockets' pitchers stepped up to hand Fisher a 13-0 shutout.
Danika Eisenmenger looked comfortable as she struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits (and not a single walk).
At the plate, Tolono Unity got a massive performance out of Sophia Beckett, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Lindy Bates, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI.
Tolono Unity was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .406. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, it was a Battle of the Birds when Prairie Central took on Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley on Thursday. The Hawks were the clear victors by a 9-2 margin over the Falcons.
Dixie Hogan spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on eight hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in six consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Sam Slagel was a standout: she went 1-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Miranda Hari was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three stolen bases and two runs.
Tolono Unity's record now sits at 16-3. As for Prairie Central, their record is now 11-12.
Tolono Unity took their win against Prairie Central in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 12-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Rockets since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
