The Timber Creek Wolves will challenge the Lake Howell Silverhawks at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Timber Creek is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.1 runs per game this season.
On Friday, Timber Creek didn't have quite enough to beat Apopka and fell 10-9. The loss continues a trend for the Wolves in their meetings with the Blue Darters: they've now lost five in a row.
Katie Jofre-Furno led a balanced group of hitters, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Jenelly Romero, who went 1-for-2 with one home run and two runs.
Meanwhile, Lake Howell entered their tilt with West Orange on Thursday with ten consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with 11. They put the hurt on the Warriors with a sharp 17-4 victory. The Silverhawks might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matches by six runs or more this season.
Nisabella Fatzinger-Rodriguez made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, Lake Howell got a massive performance out of Skaii Rodriguez, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. That's the most runs Rodriguez has posted since back in April of 2024. Jordan Hodosko was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Lake Howell hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in seven consecutive contests.
Lake Howell's win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-4. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for Timber Creek, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-9.
Timber Creek came out on top in a nail-biter against Lake Howell in their previous matchup back in April of 2019, sneaking past 2-1. Will the Wolves repeat their success, or do the Silverhawks have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
