Softball Game Preview: Stone Ridge Christian Knights vs. Hilmar Yellowjackets

The Stone Ridge Christian Knights will challenge the Hilmar Yellowjackets at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams are strolling into their contests after big wins in their previous games.

Last Tuesday, Stone Ridge Christian made easy work of Riverbank and carried off a 23-4 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Knights.

Emma Quisenberry and Hayden Quisenberry made a splash while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Quisenberry struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). Meanwhile, Hayden tossed three innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off two hits. Emma has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. At the plate, Quisenberry went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, seven RBI, and four runs, while Hayden scored five runs and stole a base while going 4-for-4. Those seven RBI gave Emma a new career-high.

In other batting news, Paige Skeen was a standout: she went 1-for-3 with four RBI, one run, and one double. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in RBI. Another player making a difference was Kinsey Pope, who scored two runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

Meanwhile, Hilmar got themselves on the board against Gustine on Friday, but Gustine never followed suit. They put the hurt on the Reds with a sharp 12-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Yellowjackets, who have now won three matchups by ten runs or more so far this season.

Hilmar has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. Stone Ridge Christian now has a winning record of 2-1.

Stone Ridge Christian beat Hilmar 8-3 in their previous matchup back in March of 2024. Will Stone Ridge Christian repeat their success, or does Hilmar have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
