The Byron Nelson Bobcat are taking a road trip to take on the Bell Blue Raiders at 1:00 p.m. on Monday. Byron Nelson is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.4 runs per game this season.
While Byron Nelson's victory against Northwest wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. Byron Nelson had just enough and edged out Northwest 4-2. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Bobcat as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.
Meredith Hambric looked comfortable as she pitched 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. That's the fewest hits she has allowed since back in February.
On the hitting side, Courtney Julian was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. Gabriella Cuellar was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one triple.
Meanwhile, Bell hadn't done well against Southlake Carroll recently (they were 1-7 in their previous eight matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Everything went Bell's way against Southlake Carroll as Bell made off with a 17-9 victory. The Blue Raiders not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since February 15th.
The team relied heavily on Kenslee Turner, who went 3-for-5 with two triples and one run. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in triples. The team also got some help courtesy of Reagan Bennett, who scored three runs while getting on base in three of her six plate appearances.
Bell kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
The win got Byron Nelson back to even at 9-9-1. As for Bell, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-9.
Monday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Byron Nelson hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .336. However, it's not like Bell struggles in that department as they've averaged .338. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Byron Nelson couldn't quite finish off Bell when the teams last played back in April of 2018 and fell 3-1. Can Byron Nelson avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
