Baseball Recap: Abilene's Run of Six Straight Wins Now Over

Abilene dropped their record down to 12-8 on Friday, which also ended the team's six-game streak of wins. They took an 8-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Buhler Crusaders. The Cowboys were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Crusaders earlier this season, when they won 5-4.

As for Buhler, they pushed their record up to 15-7 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games.

For Buhler's part, Julian Morrison made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing six innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. Morrison was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI. Those two hits gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Brayden Henry was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Those two runs gave him a new career-high. McCade Zachary also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Abilene will face off against Chapman at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Cowboys' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Irish have averaged an impressive 9.1 runs per game this season. As for Buhler, they will look to defend their home field on Monday against Andale.
