The Lake Lure Classical Academy Raptors's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their sixth straight loss. They were outmatched by Pinnacle Classical Academy at home and fell 53-10. Lake Lure Classical Academy was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 33-6.
Jeska Gobin was Lake Lure Classical Academy's leading scorer, having posted four points.
Brooke Smith held things down on the boards with five rebounds.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Pinnacle Classical Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Akeelah Davis, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 12 rebounds. Davis is absolutely dominating the rebound category: she's posted at least eight every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Lily Wellmon, who scored ten points along with three steals and three blocks.
Lake Lure Classical Academy bumped their record down to 1-10 with that defeat, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 14.1 points per game. As for Pinnacle Classical Academy, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 9-4.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lake Lure Classical Academy will challenge Veritas Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Veritas Christian Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up nine last Monday. Pinnacle Classical Academy's road trip will continue as they head out to face Thomas Jefferson at 6:00 p.m. on January 16th. Thomas Jefferson is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
