Volleyball Recap: Granite Hills' Winning Streak Snapped at Four Games

Granite Hills dropped down to 5-4 on Saturday, ending the team's four-game streak of wins. They fell just short of the Mission Hills Grizzlies by a score of 2-1. The Eagles were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Grizzlies apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in September of 2023.

Skyler Riley paced Granite Hills' offense, picking up eight kills. Riley were helped by Tatum Ripke and Lily Ennis, who contributed ten assists each. Caitlyn Eagle controlled things from the service line, finishing with four aces.

As for Mission Hills, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 7-1. While they didn't have the best season last year (they finished 15-22), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Mission Hills to victory, but perhaps none more so than Ever Lanier, who had four aces and three digs. What's more, Lanier posted two kills, the most she's had over her last five matches. The team also got some help courtesy of Taylor Sybesma, who had 11 digs and two aces.

Granite Hills has already played their next game, a 2-0 victory against Central on the 30th. As for Mission Hills, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 2-0 defeat against Otay Ranch on the 30th.
