It may have taken  eight innings to finish the job, but Rivercrest ultimately got the result they hoped for  on Thursday. They came out on top against the Walnut Ridge Bobcats by a score of  8-5. The Colts have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Bobcats, too.

 Katelyn Ostendorf made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She  struck out eight batters over  7.2 innings while giving up just two earned  (and two unearned) runs off   seven  hits (and not a single walk). Those  eight  strikeouts gave  her a new career-high. She was also stellar in the batter's box,  scoring a  run and  stealing a base while  getting on base  in all five of her plate appearances.
 In other batting news,  Ella Gonzalez was  incredible,  scoring a  run while going 2-for-5. The dominant performance also gave  her a new career-high in  doubles (two). Another player making a difference was  Hannah Higgins, who  scored a  run and  stole a base while  getting on base  in three of her four plate appearances.
 Rivercrest  kept the outfield on their toes and  finished the game with 12  hits. They are 2-1 when  they post 11 or more  hits.
Rivercrest's win  ended  a  five-game drought on the road  dating back to last season and  puts them at 2-4. As for Walnut Ridge, their  defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 4-2.
 Both  teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Rivercrest will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Brookland at 4:30  p.m.  on March 30th. Brookland's pitching crew has only allowed 3.9  runs per game  this season, so Rivercrest's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Walnut Ridge,  a feisty cat fight will be fought as Walnut Ridge Bobcats  take on  Manila Lions at 4:00  p.m.  on April 1st.
