One thing working in Rockhurst's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last five matchups.
Last Saturday, Rockhurst was able to grind out a solid win over St. Louis University, taking the game 62-52. Given Rockhurst's advantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 62nd, while St. Louis University is ranked 288th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Rockhurst's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Maxwell Moylan, who scored ten points along with three steals. Another player making a difference was Cohen Robinson, who scored nine points along with four steals.
Meanwhile, Shawnee Mission East scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Saturday. They claimed a resounding 71-40 win over Valley Center on the road. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory Shawnee Mission East has posted yet this season.
Rockhurst has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record this season. As for Shawnee Mission East, they pushed their record up to 9-2 with that win, which was their third straight on the road.
Rockhurst was able to grind out a solid victory over Shawnee Mission East in their previous meeting back in January of 2023, winning 45-38. The rematch might be a little tougher for Rockhurst since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
