The Naylor Eagles will face off against the Neelyville Tigers at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Naylor barely beat Campbell the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Eagles were the clear victors by a 13-2 margin over the Camels on Thursday. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three matchups by 11 runs or more this season.
Naylor let Max Davis and Caleb Moore run wild. Davis went a perfect 4-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles, while Moore got on base in five of his six plate appearances with five runs and one stolen base. Moore also put up a hit, which was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Sam Rose, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three RBI and one run.
Naylor always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .556. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Neelyville earned a 7-2 victory over Ava on Saturday.
Brayton Baldwin spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on six hits.
On the hitting side, Braiden Hover and Troy Hopkins did most of the damage at the plate: Hover went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI, while Hopkins went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. That's the most runs Hover has posted since back in April of 2025. Jace Thomas was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Neelyville's win bumped their record up to 4-2-1. As for Naylor, they now have a winning record of 3-2.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Monday. Naylor hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.4 home runs per game. However, it's not like Neelyville struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.4 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Everything went Naylor's way against Neelyville in their previous meeting back in March of 2025, as Naylor made off with a 10-0 victory. Do the Eagles have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Tigers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
