Wayne Country Day came tearing into Tuesday's contest with 12 straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 26.3 points) and they left with even more momentum. They took down the Cape Fear Academy Hurricanes 59-43. Given the Chargers' advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 40th, while the Hurricanes are ranked 229th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Wayne Country Day got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Camden Tyler out in front who posted 14 points along with six assists and six boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Jeremiah Mercer, who had 14 points.

Tyler wasn't the only one working in the assists department: Wayne Country Day was working as a unit and finished the game with 13 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cape Fear Academy only racked up one assist.

Cape Fear Academy lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Stan Romer, who made all 5 shots he took for 11 points. Another player making a difference was Isaiah Gibson, who put up eight points and five rebounds.

Wayne Country Day pushed their record up to 18-3 with the victory, which was their 18th straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 72.2 points per game. As for Cape Fear Academy, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-10 record this season.

Wayne Country Day will host Trinity Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Wayne Country Day's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last 13 games. As for Cape Fear Academy, they will venture away from home to square off against Greenfield at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Cape Fear Academy is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 60.9 points per game this season.
