Durant has gone 9-1 against Plant City recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Saturday. Durant will head out on the road to square off against Plant City at 10:00 a.m. Durant is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak.
On Thursday, Durant came up short against Newsome and fell 4-1.
Leanne Allen spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on four hits. That's the fewest hits she has allowed since back in April of 2024.
On the hitting side, Durant saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Gabrielle Langston, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI.
Meanwhile, while Plant City put up plenty of runs on Thursday, the same can't be said for Brandon. Plant City was the clear victor by a 20-0 margin over Brandon. The result was nothing new for the Raiders, who have now won nine contests by six runs or more so far this season.
Kayleigh Gibbs and Taylor Sher made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Gibbs struck out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). Meanwhile, Sher pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. That's the most strikeouts Gibbs has posted since back in February. At bat, Gibbs scored two runs and stole five bases while going 2-for-2, while Sher scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3.
In other batting news, Plant City got a massive performance out of Kyleigh Meiers, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Meiers is also on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Katelyn Jordan was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.
Plant City pushed their record up to 11-3 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.9 runs on average over those games. As for Durant, their loss dropped their record down to 3-5.
Durant beat Plant City 5-0 in their previous matchup back in April of 2023. The rematch might be a little tougher for Durant since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
