Coffee has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will face off against The Ware County Gators at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Last Friday, Coffee took their contest at home with ease, bagging a 56-7 win over Greenbrier. The game was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point Coffee had established a 42 point advantage.
Fred Brown continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 140 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 8.8 yards per carry. Brown is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last nine games he's played. Patrick Mccall also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Ware County never let their opponents score on Friday. They claimed a resounding 50-0 victory over Statesboro at home. Given Ware County's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia football rankings (they are ranked 32nd, while Statesboro is ranked 226th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Ware County's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Dae'jeaun Dennis, who rushed for 70 yards and a touchdown on only six carries. The team also got some help courtesy of Luke Hooks, who threw for 163 yards and three touchdowns.
Coffee's win was their seventh straight at home (dating back to last season), bumping their overall record up to 9-0. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 48.0 points per game. As for Ware County, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 7-2.
Coffee suffered a grim 31-6 defeat to Ware County when the teams last played back in November of 2022. Can Coffee avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
