Adams is 0-3 against Mansfield Timberview since November of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Adams Cougars will head out on the road to face off against the Mansfield Timberview Wolves at 7:00 p.m. Adams is hoping to put an end to a six-game streak of away losses dating back to last season.
Last Saturday, Adams took a serious blow against Birdville, falling 49-7. While losing is never fun, Adams can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 981st, while Birdville is ranked 481st).
Despite the defeat, Adams got a solid performance out of Jacori Luckey, who rushed for 176 yards and a touchdown while picking up 9.3 yards per carry. Luckey's longest rush was for an incredible 75 yards.
Meanwhile, Mansfield Timberview unfortunately witnessed the end of their eight-game winning streak on Friday. They took a 37-27 hit to the loss column at the hands of Richland. The game was a 21-21 toss-up at halftime, but Mansfield Timberview was blown out by Richland in the second.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Jaylon Woods, who rushed for 64 yards and three touchdowns. Woods hasn't dropped below two rushing touchdowns for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Cameron Bates, who gained 97 total yards and a touchdown.
Adams' loss dropped their record down to 1-8, while Mansfield Timberview's bumped their own down to the opposite: 8-1.
Adams was dealt a bruising 65-6 loss at the hands of Mansfield Timberview in their previous matchup back in November of 2022. Thankfully for Adams, Javeon Madison (who rushed for 52 yards and three touchdowns on only seven carries) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
