WEST POINT, Miss. -
West Point (Miss.) trailed
Lake Cormorant (Miss.) by 21 points at one time, but managed to come all the way back and secure a 24-21 victory on Saturday.
After taking the lead on a
Bailey Walker touchdown pass to
Brandon Wright, Lake Cormorant went into halftime with a 21-0 lead. The Green Wave scored the winning points with a field goal by
Omar Lemus that came in the fourth quarter.
West Point didn't take the lead for good until the the fourth quarter when Lemus kicked a field goal.
The loss comes after Lake Cormorant defeated New Hope 28-12 last week. The loss broke Lake Cormorant's two-game winning streak.
In a 5A Region 1 game next week West Point (4-4) takes on Saltillo, and Lake Cormorant (5-3) will go up against Center Hill also in a 5A Region 1 game.
