The Troy Flying Horses's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their third straight loss. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 72-49 walloping at the hands of Bethlehem Central. While losing is never fun, Troy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 500th, while Bethlehem Central is ranked 52nd).
Despite the defeat, Troy had strong showings from Legend Merritt, who scored 20 points, and Stetson Merritt, who scored 18 points.
Troy's loss was their fifth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 3-13. As for Bethlehem Central, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Troy will square off against Niskayuna at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Bethlehem Central, they will head out on the road to challenge Shenendehowa at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
