The Glendora Tartans will face off against the Ayala Bulldogs at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. Glendora is coming into the contest hot, having won their last five games.
Glendora's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They blew past Walnut 9-0. The result was nothing new for the Tartans, who have now won five games by six runs or more so far this season.
The result came thanks to Gianna Messick's shutout, as she gave up just five hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Kennedy Bowers was a standout: she scored three runs and stole Two bases. while going 3-for-4. Another player making a difference was Morgan Gonzalez, who went 1-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.
Meanwhile, Ayala gave up the first runs on Tuesday, but they didn't let that get them down. They walked away with a 6-1 victory over Bonita.
Lilanna Acosta made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. That's the fewest hits she has allowed since back in February of 2024. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in RBI.
In other pitching news, Allie Lukaszewicz looked comfortable as she pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit.
Back at the plate, Jocelyn Escobedo was incredible, scoring a run while going 4-for-4. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Taelor Walker was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.
Glendora pushed their record up to 7-3 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for Ayala, their victory bumped their record up to 6-2.
Thursday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Glendora hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .344. However, it's not like Ayala struggles in that department as they've averaged .349. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Glendora beat Ayala 3-0 when the teams last played two weeks ago. Does Glendora have another victory up their sleeve, or will Ayala turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
