The Taconic Thunder will challenge the Frontier Regional Red Hawks at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Taconic's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. They were the clear victors by a 12-0 margin over Drury. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Thunder.
Cheyann Goddard made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, three RBI, and two doubles. Those four runs gave her a new career-high.

The home team had come away the winner the last five times Frontier Regional and Mount Greylock Regional had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Red Hawks put the hurt on the Mounties with a sharp 15-1 victory on Friday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Red Hawks considering their two-run performance the game before.
Raine Wonsey was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out 12 over seven innings pitched. Wonsey was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBI.
In other batting news, Frontier Regional got a massive performance out of Skyler Steele, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Another player making a difference was Delaney 'Lu' Fifield, who went 3-for-5 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.
Frontier Regional moved to 6-4 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak. As for Taconic, the victory got them back to even at 5-5.
Tuesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Taconic hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .342. However, it's not like Frontier Regional struggles in that department as they've averaged .336. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Taconic might still be hurting after the 12-5 loss they got from Frontier Regional in their previous meeting two weeks ago. Will the Thunder have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more softball content.
