Given Warren Township's advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 196th, while Vernon Hills is ranked 455th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Warren Township was led to victory by Shay Love and Mariah Phelps. Love scored 4 points along with 6 rebounds and 6 steals, while Phelps dropped a double-double on 18 points and 11 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Anika Youngman, who scored 11 points.
Warren Township now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Vernon Hills, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-7.
Warren Township will head out on the road to face off against Mundelein at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Mundelein will be looking to keep their four-game home win streak alive. As for Vernon Hills, they will take on Hampshire at 6:05 p.m. on Tuesday.
