The Mechanicsburg Indians had to start their season on the road on Friday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They lost to Grandview Heights on the road by a decisive 51-35 margin. Mechanicsburg lost against Grandview Heights in their previous head to head back in December of 2022, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 74-44 score last time.
When it comes to explaining why Mechanicsburg lost, one person who can't be blamed is Lane Poland. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 15 points and 12 rebounds. Deacon Meade was another key contributor, scoring 8 points.
Mechanicsburg's defeat dropped their record down to 0-1. As for Grandview Heights, their victory bumped their record up to 1-0.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mechanicsburg will face off against Fairbanks at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Grandview Heights won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Madison Plains at 7:30 p.m. on December 2nd.
