The Shelby Tigers will be staying on the road on Monday to face off against the Newaygo Lions at 7:00 p.m. on February 12th. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Last Thursday, Shelby came up short against Ravenna and fell 67-58.
Meanwhile, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Newaygo beat Tri County Area 81-76 on Friday. The win made it back-to-back wins for Newaygo.
Shelby's loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 3-14. That rough patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.3 points per game. As for Newaygo, their victory bumped their record up to 11-8.
Shelby didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Newaygo in their previous meeting back in January of 2023, but they still walked away with a 46-40 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Shelby since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
