Thousand Oaks hasn't had much luck against Agoura recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Thousand Oaks Lancers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Agoura Chargers at 3:30 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average, (Thousand Oaks 2.4, Agoura 3.5) so any runs scored will be well earned.
On Tuesday, Thousand Oaks beat Camarillo 4-1. That's two games straight that the Lancers have won by exactly three runs.
Ava Seeger made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than one walk in six consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one home run. That home run was her first of the season.
In other batting news, Faith Goldfield was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run and two runs. That home run marked the first that she launched this season. Another player making a difference was Morgan Casillas, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.
Meanwhile, Agoura made easy work of Oak Park on Tuesday and carried off a 12-1 victory. The Chargers haven't had any issues with the Eagles recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive win against them.
Like Thousand Oaks, Agoura also got a great game from a two-way player: Chaden Chatelain. She didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. What's more, Chatelain posted five strikeouts, the most she's had over her last seven matches. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-2.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Mia Gomez, who fired off two home runs, four runs, and four RBI while going 3-for-3. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March of 2024. Jordy Charash was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 4-for-4.
Agoura was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .522. They are 5-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
The victory made it two in a row for Thousand Oaks and bumps their season record up to 7-2. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for Agoura, their win bumped their record up to 7-5.
Agoura's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Thursday. Thousand Oaks has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.9 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Agoura, though, as they've been averaging only 3.3 strikeouts. Will Thousand Oaks keep running through batters, or will Agoura buck the trend?
Thousand Oaks might still be hurting after the 14-3 defeat they got from Agoura in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can Thousand Oaks avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
