LOMPOC, Calif. -
Lompoc (Calif.) kept up a steady attack all game long to defeat Culver City (Calif.), 49-6, on Saturday.
The Braves were up 28-6 at the half after taking the lead on a touchdown run by
Nikko Hayes in the first quarter.
Lompoc expanded its lead to 36 points entering the fourth quarter. LHS scored two times in the third, including once on a Hayes touchdown run.
With the win the Braves extended their winning streak to 12 games. Lompoc defeated the Golden Knights 42-7 last week.
Hayes played well for LHS in the victory. The senior running back ran for three touchdowns. He has now scored 15 touchdowns on the season.
The Centaurs' Anthony Caiseros played well. The sophomore kicked two field goals.
Culver City came in surrendering 15.0 points per game this season. CC struggled against the Braves' offense, which entered the game scoring 44.3 points per game. Lompoc went into the matchup giving up only 6.8 points per game. The six points that the Centaurs ended with were well below their average of 27.6 coming into the game.
The defeat comes as a step back for Culver City, which notched a 34-20 victory over Dos Pueblos in its previous outing. The loss snapped Culver City's 3-game winning streak.
