After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Badger, Delavan-Darien was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 14-4 margin over the Big Foot Chiefs. The high-scoring effort was just what the Comets needed considering they were shut out in their previous match.
Joel Janssen and Kaden Garbe were a major factor no matter where they played. Throwing, Janssen pitched three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. Meanwhile, Garbe tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off five hits. Janssen has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits any time he's pitched this season. At the plate, Janssen scored five runs and stole seven bases while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances, while Garbe scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Haaken Hovestol, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Kevin O'Grady, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.
Delavan-Darien always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .575. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Big Foot only posted an OBP of .346.
