AA Region III recap Oct. 3, 2012
Keenan led AA Region III in scoring this week after putting up 39 points on North Central.
The Knights' offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Grayson King threw for 110 yards and JP Faulkenberry had 47 yards receiving. On the ground Tristan McCathern chipped in 38 yards. Anthony Spinelli helped North Central's passing attack out by catching three balls for 34 yards.
North Central's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Knights feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. King has thrown for 892 yards and six touchdowns this season, while Spinelli has 19 catches for 394 yards. McCathern leads the league in rushing with 532 yards.
Two of the top units in the league will face off this week when North Central takes on Pelion. Louis Clyburn's team's offense has recorded 169 points this season, making them No. 1 in the league, while the Panthers have permitted only 242 on the year.
A big matchup in AA Region III this week will be when the Raiders take on Columbia. Keenan is currently in first, while the Capitals are in sixth.
Pelion made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 12,140 from 12,565. The improvement was the result of 38-30 victory over Eau Claire last week.
