The Foothill Knights will square off against the Troy Warriors at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Foothill has ten straight victories, Troy has 20 straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Foothill's hitters will try to repeat the strong performance they gave on Thursday, when they got past Trabuco Hills' usually-dominant pitching crew. The Knights came out on top against the Mustangs by a score of 10-5. That's two games straight that the Knights have won by exactly five runs.
Bianca Casella looked comfortable as she tossed 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off four hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one earned run any time she's pitched this season.
At the plate, Foothill let Brooklyn Austin and Avery Victer run wild. Austin went 3-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI, while Victer went 2-for-4 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run. Those two doubles gave Victer a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Gigi Felizzari, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI.
Foothill hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Trabuco Hills struck out six times.
Valencia hit Troy with a four-run fourth inning on Friday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Warriors lost 11-1 to the Tigers.
Samantha Gallardo was cooking despite her team's loss, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with one run and one double. Sophia Vazquez also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.
Foothill's win bumped their record up to 12-8. As for Troy, their loss dropped their record down to 0-20.
Foothill got the 'W' in their previous matchup last Friday against Troy by a conclusive 22-0 score. Do the Knights have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Warriors turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
