The Our Lady of Lourdes Warriors pushed their score all the way to 55 on Wednesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 69-55 bruising from Monroe-Woodbury.
Monroe-Woodbury's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Nicolas Sanchez led the charge by scoring 21 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Sanchez has scored all season. Christopher Pearson was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with six rebounds and five assists.
Our Lady of Lourdes' loss dropped their record down to 11-4. As for Monroe-Woodbury, their win bumped their record up to 13-2.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Our Lady of Lourdes will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on the Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on February 13th. Wallkill will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps New York Rankings (they are ranked 694th, while the Warriors are ranked 73rd). As for Monroe-Woodbury, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Tigers at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Kingston is looking to tack on another W to their five-game streak on the road.
