Sarah Adams spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on five hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Big Walnut saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kyra Holmes, who went 2-for-3 with one triple.
Big Walnut hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post two or more strikeouts.
Meanwhile, after some red-hot attacks at the plate in their last four matchups, Dublin Scioto finally came back down to earth on Monday. They took a 4-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of Hayes. The Irish have struggled against the Pacers recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive lost meeting.
Dublin Scioto also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and she was also dialed-in: Avery Reynolds gave up three earned (and one unearned) runs on four hits and racked up 12 Ks.
Big Walnut's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-8. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Dublin Scioto, their loss dropped their record down to 13-3.
Wednesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Big Walnut hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .341. However, it's not like Dublin Scioto struggles in that department as they've averaged .373. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
