Two dominant guards in Donnayja Gibson and Timia Thomas are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. Having just played yesterday, the Sierra Vista Mountain Lions will jump right back in to play the Silverado Skyhawks at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Sierra Vista has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
Sierra Vista scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They secured a 58-53 W over Durango.
Sierra Vista found their leader in underclassman Gibson, who scored 23 points along with nine rebounds. The contest was Gibson's fifth in a row with at least ten points. Taylor Lane was another key contributor, scoring ten points.
Silverado can finally bid farewell to their seven-game losing streak thanks to their game on Tuesday. They came out on top against Western by a score of 35-28.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Silverado to victory, but perhaps none more so than Christina Stowers, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds. Those 12 points set a new season-high mark for her. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaitlyn Jack-Keller, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds.
The win got Sierra Vista back to even at 3-3. Silverado's record now sits at 2-9.
Sierra Vista came up short against Silverado in their previous meeting back in January, falling 48-43. Thankfully for Sierra Vista, Ashley Saxton (who dropped a double-double on 29 points and 11 rebounds) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
