Basketball Recap: Sahar Fiiller Key Part of a Team Effort in Avengers Win

Aveson Global Leadership Academy's game on Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Saturday. They wrapped up 2024 with a 70-54 win over the Southlands Christian Eagles. With that victory, the Avengers brought their scoring average up to 50.7 points per game.

Aveson Global Leadership Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Sahar Fiiller led the charge by putting up 22 points in addition to seven assists and seven boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Charvel White, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 15 boards.

Aveson Global Leadership Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 20 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've managed all season.

Aveson Global Leadership Academy has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a massive bump to their 4-7 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.5 points per game. As for Southlands Christian, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last eight contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-11 record this season.

Aveson Global Leadership Academy will be defending their home court for the first time this season when they go up against Perris at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Perris will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something Aveson Global Leadership Academy surely won't give up without a fight. As for Southlands Christian, they will take on California School for the Deaf-Riverside in a tournament on Monday.
