The Bingham Miners will head out on the road to square off against the Mountain Ridge Sentinels at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday. Bingham's pitching crew has only allowed 3.7 runs per game this season, so Mountain Ridge's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Bingham's usually-dominant pitching crew will be looking to make up for Friday's struggle, when Corner Canyon hitters got past them. The Miners fell 12-9 to the Chargers on Friday. Even though they lost, the Miners' still made a splash at the plate and bumped their average scoring up to 6.2 runs per game (they're now ranked -1th in scoring overall).
Jared Orullian made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two doubles, and one stolen base. Those doubles marked the first that he has hit this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Kam Beck, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.
Mountain Ridge not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since April 2nd (when they won 7-1). They blew past Copper Hills 10-4. With that victory, the Sentinels brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.
Ty Holmstead looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Cooper Goff, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Stockton Fowlks was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Mountain Ridge always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .575. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
The win made it two in a row for Mountain Ridge and bumps their season record up to 13-6. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.5 runs over those games. As for Bingham, their defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 14-5.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Tuesday. Bingham hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.4 home runs per game. However, it's not like Mountain Ridge struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 0.5 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Bingham couldn't quite finish off Mountain Ridge in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 and fell 8-6. Can the Miners avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
