The Jenkins Warriors will head out on the road to face off against the Statesboro Blue Devils at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Statesboro took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Jenkins, who comes in off a win.
Even though Bradwell Institute scored an imposing 33 points on Saturday, Jenkins still came out on top. Jenkins took their matchup against Bradwell Institute 41-33. The win was just what Jenkins needed coming off of a 34-0 loss in their prior matchup.
Domonique Johnson was the offensive standout of the contest as he rushed for 109 yards and two touchdowns on only seven carries. Joe Polite was another key contributor, rushing for 71 yards and a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Statesboro's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They were outmatched by Ware County on the road and fell 50-0. While losing is never fun, Statesboro can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia football rankings (they are ranked 226th, while Ware County is ranked 32nd).
Jenkins' win bumped their record up to 3-6. As for Statesboro, their loss was their eighth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 2-7.
Jenkins won a match that couldn't have been any closer when the teams last played back in November of 2022, slipping by Statesboro 1-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for Jenkins since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
