Big Island II recap October 1, 2013
Konawaena extended the longest winning streak in Big Island II this week by beating Waiakea, 44-7. The victory was the sixth in a row for the Wildcats.
Kamehameha Hawai'i took down Honoka'a 41-0 last week, the largest margin of any game. Micah Kanehailua threw for 120 yards and 3 touchdowns in the win.
The Warriors' offense was unstoppable this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. On the ground Faaolaina Ina Teofilo chipped in 188 yards. Logan Uyetake helped Kamehameha Hawai'i's passing attack out by catching 4 balls for 12 yards.

Evyn Yamaguchi made the biggest impact on defense this week as Konawaena defeated the Warriors. The 5-foot-9 senior pulled down 2 interceptions.
Brandon Howes was a passing and rushing force as Cliff Walters' team topped Waiakea. He completed 17 passes for 229 yards and also ran for 36 yards. Howes' key target this week was Luca Vartic, who caught 2 passes for 53 yards.
The Wildcats' Howes and Chase Takaki led the league in both passing and receiving yards. Howes has thrown for 2,020 yards this season, while Takaki, a 5-foot-9 receiver, has 40 catches for 708 yards. Dan Lyons' team's Teofilo leads the league in rushing yards with 768.
The Warriors are in third place, while Hawaii Prep is in second place.
Konawaena led the league in scoring this week by notching 44 points on the Warriors. Howes ran for 36 yards during the win.
