The Los Angeles CES Unicorns had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 18.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Wednesday. They came out on top against University by a score of 64-52. Given Los Angeles CES's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 278th, while the Wildcats are ranked 905th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Loss or not, University got some senior leadership from Ian Uriarte and George Walls. Uriarte scored 18 points along with seven rebounds and four steals, while Walls. scored 16 points along with two blocks. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Uriarte has scored all season. Isaac Soakai was another key contributor, scoring five points.
Los Angeles CES pushed their record up to 16-10 with that victory, which was their third straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.0 points per game. As for University, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-19.
Los Angeles CES will head out on the road to challenge the Gondoliers at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Venice's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last three matchups. As for University, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against the Sheiks at 4:30 p.m.
