Softball Recap: Spring Hill Has No Trouble Against Lawrence

Spring Hill was handed a heart-breaking two-run loss in their last matchup, but they sure didn't let that happen against Lawrence on Thursday. The Broncos were the clear victors by a 9-1 margin over the Lions. The result was nothing new for the Broncos, who have now won six contests by eight runs or more so far this season.

Jayden Kistner made a splash no matter where she played. She tossed seven innings while giving up just one earned run off seven hits. Kistner was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.

In other batting news, Quinn Thomson and Olivia Fraley did most of the damage at the plate: Thomson went 2-for-4 with three runs and one stolen base, while Fraley went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most runs Thomson has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Campbell Mermis, who went 2-for-4 with two runs.

Spring Hill kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

With the victory, Spring Hill broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 6-3.

Looking ahead, Spring Hill will face off against Olathe North at 11:30 a.m. on Friday. As for Lawrence, they will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Perry-Lecompton at 4:30 p.m. on May 12.
