Basketball Recap: Prairie Heights Snaps Five-Game Streak of Losses on the Road

Prairie Heights won the last time they faced West Noble, and Emily McCrea did her part to make sure it happened again. The Prairie Heights Panthers wrapped up 2024 with a 40-25 win over the West Noble Chargers thanks in part to McCrea, who almost dropped a double-double on 22 points and nine boards. That makes it five consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Prairie Heights' points.

Peyton Gibson was another key player, putting up three points and seven steals. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in steals.

Despite the defeat, West Noble saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Marley Mast posted 12 points along with five boards and five steals. Those five steals set a new season-high mark for Mast.

Prairie Heights' victory ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-9. As for West Noble, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-12.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Prairie Heights will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Leo at 7:30 p.m. on January 7th. West Noble will also get a bit of a break before their next game: they'll face off against Concord at 7:30 p.m. on January 7th. Concord has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
