Pontotoc proved they can win big last Monday (they won by 23) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 11-10 victory over the Nettleton Tigers. Kelsy Spears was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That home run marked the first that she launched this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Emarie Boddie, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.
Pontotoc's victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 14-10. As for Nettleton, with the loss, they broke their seven-game winning streak and moved their record to 25-3-1.
Looking ahead, Pontotoc will face off against Tupelo at 11:00 a.m. on Friday. Nettleton does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
