4A Northern recap October 22, 2013
Loveland was able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after beating Thompson Valley. The Indians came in at 24 in the state poll after placing at number 30 last week.
Greeley Central was the team that made the biggest jump in the rankings, moving from sixth to fourth in 4A Northern. The Wildcats beat Greeley West 7-0 earlier in the week.
Niwot's dynamic duo of Justin Lee and Elijah Noterman proved to be unstoppable against Longmont, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Lee threw for 262 yards and 2 touchdowns and Noterman had 155 yards receiving. Alex Kinnison helped Niwot's passing attack out by catching 1 ball for 52 yards.
He went 11-44 with 2 interceptions.
Zach Peck was a key player and the best on defense this week as Windsor bested Mountain View. The 6-foot-3 defensive end grabbed 3 sacks.
The leading receiver in the league this season is Drew Meintzer. The Thompson Valley star has 43 catches for 487 yards.
The top two teams in the league will face off this week when first place Loveland takes on second place Longmont. Last week, Loveland topped the Eagles, while the Trojans bested the Cougars.
Longmont added to the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Niwot, 50-12. The win marks sixth in a row for the Doug Johnson's team.
