The Labette County Grizzlies's homestand continues as they prepare to take on the Chanute Blue Comets at 7:30 p.m. on February 9th. Labette County will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Kansas Rankings (they are ranked 259th, while Chanute is ranked 43rd).
Labette County pushed their score all the way to 65 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 72-65 to Parsons. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Friday (55), Labette County still had to take the loss.
Hudson Baker put forth a good effort for the losing side as he dropped a double-double on 27 points and 16 rebounds. That was a full 41.5% of Labette County's points, marking the sixth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Nolan Nash, who scored 12 points along with three steals.
Meanwhile, Chanute came tearing into Tuesday's match with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10 points) and they left with even more momentum. They enjoyed a cozy 54-35 victory over Fort Scott.
Labette County's loss dropped their record down to 2-13. As for Chanute, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 12-3 record this season.
