The McLean County Cougars pushed their score all the way to 55 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 66-55 hit to the loss column at the hands of Muhlenberg County. McLean County was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Muhlenberg County apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.
Despite the defeat, McLean County saw an underclassman step up: Anna Miller scored 23 points along with six rebounds and five steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Miller has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Ava Lannum, who scored nine points along with three blocks.
McLean County's loss dropped their record down to 5-10. As for Muhlenberg County, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a massive bump to their 6-14 record this season.
Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Union County the next time they take the court. McLean County will host Union County at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, while Muhlenberg County will host them at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
