Stargate School is 0-4 against Eagle Ridge Academy since December of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Saturday. The Stargate School Eagles will head out on the road to challenge the Eagle Ridge Academy Warriors at 11:30 a.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.
Last Tuesday, Stargate School took a serious blow against Peak to Peak, falling 47-15. While losing is never fun, Stargate School can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 304th, while Peak to Peak is ranked 55th).
Stargate School got a good chunk of their points from the dynamic duo of
Daniela Lewis and
Malavika Iyengar, who each put up four points.
Meanwhile, Eagle Ridge Academy's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their fourth straight loss. They were outmatched by Kent Denver on the road and fell 60-31. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Eagle Ridge Academy in their matchups with Kent Denver: they've now lost six in a row.
Despite the loss, Eagle Ridge Academy saw an underclassman step up: Carole Tamburino dropped a double-double on 12 points and 14 rebounds. Tamburino hasn't dropped below ten rebounds for 17 straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Madi DiLorenzo, who scored six points along with ten rebounds and five steals.
Stargate School has been struggling recently as they've lost ten of their last 11 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-13 record this season. As for Eagle Ridge Academy, they dropped their record down to 7-12 with that defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Stargate School have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 25.2 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Eagle Ridge Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging 40.1 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Stargate School lost to Eagle Ridge Academy on the road by a decisive 45-26 margin when the teams last played back in February of 2023. Can Stargate School avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
