The Hernando Leopards will be home for the holidays to greet the Hernando Christian Academy Lions at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
Last Thursday, Hernando was the victim of a rough 59-36 defeat at the hands of Springstead. While losing is never fun, Hernando can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 283rd, while Springstead is ranked 138th).
The losing side was boosted by Kayla Holloman, who scored 16 points. She scored a full 44.4% of Hernando's points, the ninth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Savannah Condron, who scored eight points.
Meanwhile, Hernando Christian Academy scored the most points they've had all season to find success last Friday. They enjoyed a cozy 48-33 victory over First Academy.
It was another big night for Kelly Wong, who scored 15 points along with six rebounds. That's the first time this season that she scored 15 or more points. Breely Miller was another key contributor, scoring six points.
Hernando's defeat dropped their record down to 5-4. As for Hernando Christian Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 2-4-1.
Hernando came up short against Hernando Christian Academy in their previous matchup back in February of 2019, falling 52-46. Can Hernando avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
