Evan Poznanski made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, he posted two strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with three RBI and one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Randall Collins, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one home run, two RBI, and one double. That home run was his first of the season. Justin Brock was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing Two bases. while going 2-for-3.
Meanwhile, Gulf Coast HEAT was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They came up short against Foundation Christian Academy, falling 21-6. One positive for Gulf Coast HEAT, at least, is that this was the most points they've scored all season.
Gulf Coast HEAT saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kevin McNulty, who scored a run and stole Two bases. while going 1-for-2. McNulty is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played. Another was Noah Hefner, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI.
Sarasota Christian pushed their record up to 6-2 with the victory, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Gulf Coast HEAT, their loss dropped their record down to 1-5.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Sarasota Christian has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.2 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Gulf Coast HEAT struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Sarasota Christian took their win against Gulf Coast HEAT in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 11-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for Sarasota Christian since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
