After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Bridgeport, the Hay Springs Hawks were happy to have found some success on Tuesday. They walked away with a 45-34 victory over Hemingford. The score was all tied up 17-17 at the break, but Hay Springs was the better team in the second half.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Hay Springs to victory, but perhaps none more so than Alexa Tonjes, who scored eight points along with ten rebounds. Those ten rebounds set a new season-high mark for Tonjes. The team also got some help courtesy of Gabby Twarling, who scored 14 points along with eight rebounds and five assists.
Hay Springs' win bumped their record up to 4-2. As for Hemingford, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-4.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hay Springs will take on Creek Valley at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Creek Valley is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses. As for Hemingford, their homestand continues as they prepare to take on Mitchell at 5:30 p.m. on December 14th. Hopefully Mitchell focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 20 on Saturday.
