You can't lose the match if you win every quarter, and that was precisely the Butler Bulldogs's strategy against the East Mecklenburg Eagles on Friday. Butler was the clear victor by a 60-39 margin over East Mecklenburg. The win was nothing new for Butler as they're now sitting on three straight.
Tyler Showalter continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 24 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. He continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Terrance Badio, who scored nine points along with six rebounds.
Despite the loss, East Mecklenburg still got an impressive performance from Bryson Heath, who scored 18 points along with two steals. Another player making a difference was James Mciver, who scored four points along with six rebounds.
Butler is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-7 record this season. As for East Mecklenburg, they dropped their record down to 11-10 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight at home.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Butler will face off against Rocky River at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Rocky River is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 62.8 points per game this season. As for East Mecklenburg, they will head out on the road to square off against Independence at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Independence focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Tuesday.
